article Austin, Texas (AP) Austin is gearing up for a real estate boom in the coming years.
The city is expected to surpass the population of New York City as the world’s largest city by 2031, with the population projected to double in a matter of years, according to an analysis by the U.S. Census Bureau.
And now, the city is adding new jobs.
Austin will be home to the world headquarters of the World Wide Web, which will have a footprint of about 300 square miles (700 square kilometers).
The World Wide Webspace is a multi-million dollar venture spearheaded by Amazon.com and a consortium of local businesses.
The venture is funded by a $10 billion investment by Google and a $2 billion investment from Microsoft.
Austin is one of the fastest-growing cities in the U, with more than 2.4 million residents, the Census Bureau said.
A new census survey released Tuesday showed the population has grown by more than 4,500 people since 2010, from 884,000 to 917,000.
The census bureau said the average age of a person living in Austin has gone from 29.6 years in 2010 to 32.1 years in 2019.
That’s an increase of nearly two years.
