Real estate firm says it will be looking for a buyer to buy the Hawthorn Hawks

Real estate agency Real Estate Group is seeking to sell the Hawthorns after it revealed it was unable to find a buyer for the iconic stadium.

The Hawthorns, which is also known as the Etihad Stadium, was purchased in 2004 by billionaire Michael O’Neill.

Real Estate Group was set to sell it for $1.7 billion in 2016, but it is currently in negotiations with an individual who is not a member of the O’Brien family.

“We are in the process of reviewing the property and are still in the market for a potential buyer to purchase the Hawthorne Hawks,” the company said in a statement.

“[The buyer] will be a significant component of our future growth strategy.

We look forward to working with the interested parties to ensure that the Hawthawks continues to provide the best entertainment experiences for fans of all ages.”

The Hawthorn stadium was sold to O’Neal for $3.7 million and the Etias was bought by O’Neil’s family for $4.3 million.
